Hi there!
My name is Lauren. You probably read that as Lauren…it’s actually pronounced Lau-REN. Does that make sense? Think of Sophia. I know, I know, it’s spelled wrong; however, when you love your parents as much as I do, even though they made the grievous error of misspelling my name, subjecting me to a life of correcting basically every person I’ve ever encountered on the pronunciation, you find a way to make the person mispronouncing it feel as though it is THEIR grievous error. Imagine the scene as I say, “oh, it’s actually Lau-REN”. It’s been scientifically proven that there is no way to say this without sounding as if you think you are the queen of the entire earth (including bodies of water, mountainous ranges, and all of the inhabitants down to the tiny black ant that just a moment ago, ran across your foot), and someone has had the audacity to forget that. In all seriousness, you can see why I often resist correcting people, and why, if we should ever meet (and I hope we do!), and you accidentally call me Lauren, I will not be offended (nor will I correct you). To be honest, I quite like the name, Lauren!
I feel as though writing is encapsulated inside of my heart. This is probably because I have a tattoo of a tiny pen very close to my heart. Okay, nope, that is not true. I do love writing, though. I also love making people laugh. If I were to tell you one thing that I truly believe, it’s that laughter is a healer and a uniter. Laughter can turn a bad day into a good day, or at least one that is survivable. It can lend a hand-up when you’re in a dark hole that you just don’t see a way out of. It creates memories that are so enduring that when you close your eyes you are transported back to that moment in time (and not because you may have been smoking a little somethin-somethin’!). Laughter can transcend across ethnicities, languages, backgrounds, and socioeconomic statuses. It provides for an intangible connection between people that you would have never thought to put in the same room. Laughter is something that can make a person’s spirit come alive (but not in the spooky American Horror Story sense).
The intent of Paislee’s Humorous Happenings (Note: Copywrited x 1 billion, trademarked x 1 trillion, patent pending prior to my birth) is to bring joy and laughter to people for whatever reason they need it, whether it be a simple mind break or something bigger. Details about Paislee such as her occupation, ethic background, language(s), socioeconomic status, and faith are not delved into, as the intent is that her stories transcend those boundaries, and in effect are meant for all humans, whomever and wherever they may be.
With the purest of hearts (as it’s still very early in the morning, I have not had one coherent thought yet today, so I think this also makes my heart very pure?), I hope Paislee’s stories bring you at least a small smile, and contribute to making your trek through life a bit lighter.
With that, welcome, and thank you so much for choosing to spend some of your time here!
With love,
Lau-REN
